This is Ben. Ben is in his early 40s, recently divorced for the second time.

Not long ago Ben found himself at the precipice of midlife, beset on all sides by life events over which he had little to no control: cancer, career changes, deaths, and a second marriage that that ended amicably but cost him his dog and best friend.

There’s no road map for midlife. Or really, any other phase of life. But we can share the experiences and misadventures together. We can, and should, laugh at our foibles and tribulations and incessantly mock our poor decisions. We do this as fellow travelers on a similar journey, ala Chaucer and his Canterbury Tales, because mirth is preferable to despair; in other words, if you don’t laugh you’ll cry.
